Starting in October, I am embarking on a new project intended to expand both my writing, and my visibility. This project will be posted on Patreon, and takes the form of a small, monthly, writing collection.
This collection will be released digitally, and will feature the following content:
The first issue of this monthly collection will be released in November.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is a crowd funding platform that allows creators to accept payment in exchange for their work. Creators can set up tiers to allow Patrons to donate different amounts in exchange for additional content or special rewards. Payment can be set up on a monthly basis, or per project.
While Patreon is a type of crowd-funding, it shouldn’t be confused with Gofundme or Kickstarter. You aren’t investing in a future product that may or may not become reality. You are pledging a given amount for a product or a service, and then receiving it. No worry, no angst, and no CEOs buying lamborghinis and going to Vegas with development capital.
Why Should You Care?
That depends. Do you like reading? If so, this project will offer you fresh content on a monthly basis, similar to a magazine. That means new short stories, creative writing, novel chapters, and writing tips, every month, bundled up in a convenient package.
Enjoy the content, give feedback, and be proud that your patronage will help future stories come to life. Any special rewards or gifts you may receive are just icing on the cake!
For in-depth details on Patron tiers, prices, and rewards, please see the project page on Patreon when it becomes available in October. You can also expect updates here.
What is an Alternative Media Project?
Standard books, both digital and physical, while excellent ways to convey ideas and stories, do not fully take advantage of current technology. I have had a long standing fascination with pursuing alternative ways to tell a story. Music, color, animation, and sound, all have an effect on us psychologically. I would like to explore ways to combine them with more traditional written media.
As this approach will take a lot of tinkering and experimentation, it will be released as a sort of extra. Expect a new release every four to six months, depending on project.
